the concept behind tracker is to turn your desktop/phone/whatever into an interface to a replicated log of your activities. this is partially outlined here. each device has an interface that is tailored to its form factor, but the data behind the UI is the same.

Oh yeah, I wanted to say something about this.

I don't foresee myself using this much. I hardly use the touch feature on my Chromebook and I find MATE to suit my needs just fine. That being said, I find new UIs and such interesting and try most of them out at some point.

The thing I really don't get is tagging. I can probably come up with over a dozen tags for each of my files, and when I have tried sticking to a tagging scheme I've found the way I'd tag a file would change over time. Add to that the increased time in tagging versus tossing something in a proper folder, I just don't see much of an ROI.

oh, well this isn't a touch ui. my perspective on convergence is data-oriented. i don't think mixing mobile and desktop interaction models works very well. i do think the idea of a home screen on desktop is handy tho.

why not both? i don't have anything against hierarchical filesystems, but i really like the idea of having native tagging support as well. i particularly enjoy using Haiku for this reason.
